300sel 6.3 Lemans 1970

I can't get the link to attach here for some reason. This is for the w111 fans and fans of the W100 engine.  (Perhaps someone who enjoys reading about this big sedan can figure it out and attach the link.)
For now go to the internet and enter, The story behind 004318. You might add the photographers name,  Schaible.  Funny story and nice photo of this huge sedan leading the pack during the 70 Lemans Race.

Wasn't that Roman Polanski's car being delivered from the factory to the boat for shipment and the alcoholic ex race car driver delivering the car got a little out of control on the way and took it out on the track? Roman heard about it and refused delivery when the car got to the Beverly Hills dealer. I believe it is alive and well and resides in New Jersey now.

Funny story. Though putting Le Mans on the way from Stuttgart to Cannes requires some serious lack of orientation!
