Writing on chrome auto shift gate cover

Are there differences (maybe LHD or RHD) where some have the gear selector indicators down the right hand side and others down the left side of the chrome gate cover?

Just curious because mine run down the the right side, but saw this picture today showing a shifter with the letters running down the left.

Left alphanumericals = 230SL/early 250SL; no illumination; neutral = 0
Right alphanumericals = late 250SL/280 SL; illuminated; neutral = N
