My turn signal stalk does not turn off sometimes and the two speed wipers only work on fast speed unless you hold the rocker switch down can this be fixed or do I need to buy a new one. are they easy to fit.will the stalk of another model fit e.g. 111 or 108.Many thanks Mike

The self cancelling toggle in the switch is probably broken,i had one made by a local machine shop, you will have to remove the indicator switch to confirm this.

Sorry tel76 I misled you in my wording, what I should have said was the actual wipers dont turn off sometimes after pressing in the switch you have to keep pressing the switch in a few times to make them stop but also the two speed only works on fast unless you keep the rocker pressed down.Cheers .Mike.

Hi, Mike,

Not sure if the wiper switch on the stalk can be repaired.

The stalk itself is not difficult to change: you can unscrew the switch from the steering column and the 2 horn wires, but you have to remove the wires from the 12 (?) pin plug as the plug will not pull thru the steering column tube. Make a note of all the colours and where they go. Not easy to mess up as they are all cut to length.

Price of the stalk is a different matter!!

The wipersnot turning off sounds like the wiper relay under the hood not the switch. You may want to check the relay as part of your diagnostics. Search "wiper relay", here is a good post with a picture of the location  http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=2519.0  You can open up the relay and clean the contacts and possibly fix your problem. It is a momentary relay, meaning the switch on the stalk activates the relay with a momentary electrical pulse and the relay then holds that position. You may need a new relay, but try fixing the old one first if you have the ability.

Hello Naj,
I find that i can get the plug through the column quite easily, without removing the wires from the plug.

Hi, Eric,

The 230 SL has a narrower stg column.
I did have to take the plug off when I did mine, years ago now.
