I have seen a petrol pump cover for sale. Is the 230SL the same as the 2.80SL cover? Can anyone help me with this matter please......

There were 4 of 5 variations on the fuel pump "coffee can" cover. The 280sl has a larger gas tank and a different pump than the 230. so it would need to be modified to clear everything. It would not bolt on "as is" and fit your car.

I did not have a fuel pump cover on mine when I bought it so I used a 107 fuel pump cover and modified it to fit. It looks great on my 1969 280SL.

Yes exactly, four.
Two box-like covers for the 230ies with spare wheel well, one closed (coffee) can-like for the other 230ies (see pic of Bob's (cascadiaclassics) phantastic metallic-red 230 he sold a while ago) and the late style open-can for the 250/280ies with 82 liter tank, which is still available.

Some individual in Germany made reproductions of the box-like cover for the 230 SL (VIN 000203-007204) with spare wheel well. I could find out whom, if someone here is interested.
