Headliner Color
« on: October 19, 2010, 19:49:10 »
Hello,

Could someone possibly proved provide me with the appropriate / correct headliner color for the following?
1966 230SL, Exterior Color 180, Interior Color 115 Dark Blue MB-Tex.
The datacard info from Mercedes does not seem to specify the headliner color.
I am having the car restored; I plan to keep the exterior 180 color, but ultimately would like to change the interior color to red.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Originally the headliner came in three different colors: White/9002, Cream/8036, and Bamboo/8038, but never in black or red, etc.
However, the only German Sonnenland canvas available now has a kind of beige/tan color backing, so no need to search much further, you are stuck with it.

The data card for your car does specify the headliner color but it is hidden in the upholstery code.

For the 230 SL, the interior color 115 dark blue goes with a white hardtop headliner and any red interior code comes with the cream headliner - as Alfred mentioned before.

Original factory soft top canvas have always been with a light tan color inside - nothing else, independent from the interior color. Was like this in the old days and still is today with the few colors which are still available.
Aftermarket color choices is a different story here...
