Pushing my luck and Michigan weather to the very brink--last Sunday was the end. Drove the car 155 miles in questionable weather, heat on, but pavement dry, top up, and no precipitation forecast. Away she sleeps in a garage up north until Easter, or the first good rainfall after the last snow to clean the roads of salt (which has not yet been used 'round these parts).
Ran quite well, but the other drivers were maniacs. I tried to keep it to 70-75 MPH (just over 4,000 RPM) most of the way, and I was apparently the slowpoke clogging traffic; this day everyone was choosing to do 85-90, a [disturbing] notch up from normal. I had the occasional burst of speed to go around a truck, and no sooner did I do that than somebody was right on my bumper pushing me to move over (or go faster). Nice to have the speed but I think extended drives at 4000 rpm are a comfortable end limit for me. Let 'em pass me.
You'd have though I was on the autobahn in a 1-liter a-class car.
