Stolen Pagoda
« on: December 28, 2010, 08:01:19 »
Sigh...My Pagoda 230SL has been stolen on the 22nd Décember in my garage, south of France, near Avignon.
Colour is white with red leather seats. VIN: 113-042-10-009316
Engine: Teil N° 12 701 04100 :80.
Any information would be welcome.  >:(
I did love it...

Pascal ,

I'll echo the previous 2 sentiments. How awful !! I hope those that are responsible are caught and that your car is returned undamaged. Keep us updated....

Pascal,

how terrible... any ideas on the job? Inside information? Too much publicity in the french press for the European Event ?

Dang, hope you are well insured, but nonetheless it's such a shame to lose a car like that. Hope it turns up okay :-)

Hello everybody, :)
It is so good to feel that all of you are supporting us. That is the idea I have of an actual community.
Yesterday Santa Claus was probably in Avignon: a charming old lady and her husband called Frédérique and said: There is a beautiful car Mercedes in front of our house; would it be yours because we have seen on the registration card that you were the owner and as you do not live in this street.....bla bla bla. Frédérique started to cry of happiness; I was flying over Greece and could not share this tremendous event. Well the car is back home, absolutly no damage. Amazing. These stupid guys have probably been afraid of what could easily happen with the police searching such a car. For sure they were not concerned by these oldies.
Once more thanks to all of you.
Peter, did you receive the press article about the European Event?

Pascal I'm happy almost than you, because I cannot sleep thinking a poor Pagoda far and alone from his "daddy"...
It's curious that this is the second happy end story of a stolen Pagoda this year, the first was in october during the annual Padova old car show when a visitor saw his stolen car (230Sl) for sell in the stand of a german trader.
The car was blocked from police waiting for some convincing explanation... ;D

Sometimes i wonder if people who are stealing cars and parts are also lurking around some of the forums.

Glad that your story had a happy ending.

Pascal,

after sad feelings at first, what a wonderful Xmas gift you got. At least one could say that you happened to have some considerate thefts, since there was no damage. And as a matter of fact, they had a particularly good taste D.

Hey Pascal

I think these were some thieves from Los Angeles and unfortunately they are now coming to you to steal cars, since mine is safely inside my garage every night after I drive it (It has been stolen and taken apart at least three times in its lifetime...)

I think they probably saw the price of gas in France and decided to give up instead of fill the car up :-)
Good for you....

Pascal,
I'm so happy that you got your car back.  It is a beautiful example, just as you and your wife are beautiful examples of Pagoda people.  ;D

When I hear stories like this, I am always curious how the theives managed to start or move the cars.  However, I would NOT recommend that we post on the forum any ideas for future theives.  Perhaps this, and easy ways to disable the car, should be a short topic at the PUB and other gatherings.
