Help Identifying Parts
« on: January 23, 2011, 20:22:14 »
I am trying to get my 280 project better organized by identifying and cataloging parts.  I should have done this a long time ago.  Here are some pictures of parts I could use some help with.

Thanks,
Chuck Taylor

Wow... Chuck...!

Pict022.jpg
"Could" show the cardboard panels left and right in the trunk...
Which material are they made of? Cardboard, plastic, sheet metal?

Pict023.jpg --> ?

Pict024.jpg
Upper left (taped): fork & spring mechanism for the glovebox compartment
Additional spring --> Could perhaps be the one under the lid in the power steering reservoir, perhaps ?
Lower left: Could be a clamp for the tie rods or something similar. But the screws look too tiny.
Upper right: bracket for the ignition coil perhaps?

Pict025.jpg
Lower right: could be the bracket for the brake light switch.

All the other parts ... no idea.
Are you sure all the parts are from the SL?

Photo  1
Those are the fill in panels that attach to the vertical bulkhead behind the seats under the carpeting.  They fill in the corners of the bulkhead.

Hey this is fun, I see a whole new category for this site, "Name That Part", try to stump the experts, win cash and prizes ! Now that I have my 69 SL all apart for painting I'm already anticipating a few "what is this and where does it go? " moments in my future.......

Hello,

The little spring clip on the right in the last photo looks like the clip that holds the plug on the kickdown switch for the auto trans located under the accelerator pedal in the engine compartment.

Second photo lower right (metal clip)...some AC cars had another clip that attached from the underdash unit to the passenger side kickpanel (right side) . Look for two matching holes in the metal behind the kick panel.
