Voltage Regulator
« on: February 12, 2011, 23:29:09 »
I have an early 63 230sl with the wrong voltage regulator.  As I do  a search the part I get several different part numbers from suppliers for the Bosch part.  Can anyone tell me what the correct Bosch number would be for this car and where is the best place to purchase the part since I am seeing a list price of $204 and purchase prices as low as $27 with everything in between.  Not sure if I am comparing apples to apples.
The original mb part number was 0011545106.

Not sure this is an answer but the replacement I bought from Ray at SL Classics (before he went to Bud's) is a bit different from the original. Not majorly but somewhat. It plugs in just fine and looks sharp but its different. I have heard of people taking the innards out of the new one and using the original case with the yellow band...I opted for fresh and new versus faded and original.

PS I paid about 50 I think

Hi,

The latest Bosch # is '0 192 062 007' (MB 002 154 7406).

As James mentioned, the cannister is somewhat smaller than the original, because the function is now transistorised. The 2 holes for fitting are the same dims.

Other aftermarket brands such as Beru and Hella are less expensive.
