Headlight Lens RHD to LHD
« on: February 19, 2011, 21:11:57 »
I have recently brought my RHD 230SL from the UK to Switzerland. The Swiss are very particular about having the lights adjusted for driving in Switzerland/Europe. I think I need to change the headlight lens. Is it possible to just change the lens to part number A113 820 04 61 (LHD vehicles). If this is correct is it possible to buy these lens direct from Bosch? Any help/advice would be welcome.

Mike,

If you have the euro lights then the glass can easily be changed by removing the chrome trim and un-cliping the glass lenses.  Getting them can be a bit more tricky.  They do come up on eBay as new glass but I don't think they are Bosch and normally sell for around $USD100-120 each. You could try your MB dealer but they may be two or three times this price.
Once you have changed them the old ones can be sold on this forum or eBay.

Besides changing the glass lens, the reflector will also need to either be changed or modified.
It has to be turned thru (almost) 180 degrees and a new notch filed for the bulb, so you can get the correct asymetric pattern.
