Engineering tag placement

Am I the only one that wonders why several sources including a recent article in The Star show the "oil level" sticker on the trunk (boot) lid? Why not in the engine compartment? Could one example of erronious information keep being perpetuated. Putting this sticker in the trunk seems to defy logic.

I do not have this sticker on my trunk lid and there is no sign of there ever being one. I do have the tire inflation sticker as expected.

Can anyone with an original car or old photo confirm this location?

Gus,

To me the placement of these stickers are rather logical in a typical Mercedes way(nothing is coincidal)
These stickers are located in in a place where the person using the car is likely to see it them from time to time.

I used to always write timing belt changes and inspection miles on the inside of the trunk lid because the average customer opens the trunk a hundred times more than the hood.

No oil level sticker on my trunk/boot lid nor in my engine compartment.

Thanks John.
Since you have owned your car since new, that satisfies me that these tags were probably not on the trunk lid from the factory. At least not for 68 and 69 pagodas.

Where would they be located in a 66 230 SL?  I don't see one in my car.  The tire pressure one is on the center of the trunk lid.
