I found some old slides taken on a road trip to the southwest US back in December 1967 in my 7 month old 250 SL (Predecessor of my 280 SL). The trip from LA started in fine weather but as you see, we ran into snow (lots of it) at the Grand Canyon and for pretty much the rest of trip up through Monument Valley and Bryce Canyon before heading for home. Only had to chain up for about 15 miles total and we were virtually the only car on the roads which were for the most part, unplowed. Everyone else had better sense then to drive in that weather:-) It was an amazing journey in an amazing car.
As to my 280 SL, I hope to get it back from the shop next week after some work (all new rubber bushings, Shocks replaced, radiator recored, steering tightened up and few other items). Top down weather is fast approaching.
