Owner's plaque
« on: April 24, 2011, 19:19:28 »
Here is a photo of an owner's plaque that bears my name and is attached to the center console. I can not remember (a common problem these days:-) if I received it from the dealer or directly from Daimler-Benz. Anyone else have one of these and could enlighten me as to where it came from?

Thanks,

John

I purchased a new 190 E (201 body) in 1985 and I received a similar plaque. I believe it came from the dealer, but don't remember for sure any more (a common problem on this end of the wire too!)

My 65' 230 SL had a brass plate with the inscription "Made specially for Sam Krasner" glued to the padding above the glove box lid, but that seemed a little unofficial. But at least I had a name to go for when tracking him down and he has been very helpful with filling out a missing part of my cars' history.

In the late 60's (1967) , my first real job upon graduation was as a parts director in an MB dealership. As I recall, we would order these through MBNA and they would process and then send them to the owner to either install or just hold on to. It's been almost 45 years ago so perhaps an older original owner might recall. As memory (such as it is) may also recall, this was curtailed a few years later, much like the older cloisonne on brass mileage badges. Sadly, 1972 saw the demise of lots of tradition after that.
