Hello all,
Just thought I'd start with a few photos of my little project(!). It's an Italian spec 5 speed I bought as a rolling restoration job last year but due to work and other commitments I've only recently got started on it.
In recent weeks it's been the subject of a bare metal respray and body repair and is now in primer. The hardtop was subjected to the same treatment (was originally red) and will have all new seals and headliner. The interior is staying blue and will be brand new throughout. It already has a new OEM exhaust and windscreen, new sill cover panels and all new chrome screws and fittings. The original chrome has all been cleaned up, polished and wrapped ready for refit. The bumpers and windscreen pillar covers are to be re-chromed. All the woodwork was shot so a replacement set from Germany is sat in the box waiting for fitting.
In the last year I've been tracking down original accessories and spares and have procured a full set of the rare 5.5 pressed aluminium wheels (via Scoot) which are now resplendent in a new powder coat job and also a complete set of Barrock alloys which will replace the original steel wheels and two piece trims (apologies to the purists!). On top of that I got the 5 litre gas can, chrome ski rack (ouch!), tool roll and full set of tools (including the MB OEM tyre pressure gauge), BBB, handbook, soft top instruction card etc etc and so forth... The list goes on.
As you can imagine, there's been a lot of work done and there is a lot more to do but it keeps me occupied and out of my wife's hair...
Link to Flikr - sorry but I failed miserably at uploading them to the forum..

Cheers all,
