Newbie Needs Help Identifying 280SL

I have just purchased what I believe is a 280Sl. It is really a donor car but I need help identifying the correct year. It appears the ID tags have been removed from the B pillars. The only tag that I can find is currently on the drivers side (left) windshield post. It reads 113.044  12-019866. Can anyone help me identify the correct year for this car? I received no title or other information with the car. I appreciate any help you can give and apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge.

Your car is a 280sl produced in July of 1970. It may have been sold and licensed as a 1971 model.

Gus,
Thanks for the information. I will be selling the car as a donor or parts car on eBay. Unfortunately the car was under restoration when the owner passed away and it's apart and not totally complete. Missing tags and title.
