Did my 230SL in MB tex about 5 years ago. Carpet, dash, seats, visors, replace all MB tex except for door panels. It ended up at around $7000.00 +- for parts and a small amount of labor, and the only thing sent out was the dash panels and convertible top boot recovering. This was including $750.00+ for just the visors without the vanity mirror, those I think are less money now and have the mirror. Of course if you just need the seats recovered, that is a different deal altogether. That is probably rarely the case though. I stripped the interior, removed the windshield etc. etc. These cars are very complicated animals, and every job leads to another, and another, and so on. Reading here, I have heard of new interior costs reaching $14000.00+ done by a pro. I would have wanted at least that to do the work I did on mine, big, rewarding job. Parts can add up quickly, just the rubber gaskets for behind the 3 gauges was $45.00, I bet more now. Also, many times you will have rust repair under the carpets, I did. I made the replacement pieces from sheet metal and welded them in myself. It came out great and looks like new, but buying new metal can also get very expensive and labor intensive. Pull up the carpets if you can, you never know what sins are hiding under there. My friend had a 250SL and someone used fiberglass cloth and resin to fix them. A real big mess.
