Ignition key tumbler
« on: May 20, 2011, 16:33:23 »
I remember seeing a post where a member had an ignition key that was stuck between the #1 and #2 positions. I did the search and couldn't find it again. I think the tumbler had failed causing the key to jam. And because of that, he was not able to remove the tumbler and had to replace the entire lock assembly. This was on a later lock assembly with a replaceable tumbler.

From what I remember, the comment was made that you should replace the part (tumbler or lock) before it fails. Now I don't remember which part that was but I would guess it is the tumbler and not the lock. This is on a '68.

My key is starting to feel a little loose in the tumbler and am wondering if it would be wise for me to replace it now before it jams. What do you think?
