spare tire hold down bolt size?
« on: June 10, 2011, 23:01:10 »
Hi All
1967 230.  Anyone know the size (diameter and threads) of my missing bolt?  I only have as large at 10mm, so now I'm guessing.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Also, there must be some kind of hold-down.  I'm thinking a bolt and a piece of angle or flat stock ought to do the job, but what does the original look like?
Thanks

Here is a photo of the trunk with the hold down unit on the floor.
Unfortunately I don't know bolt size.

Thanks Garry
Now I get it!  I can't imagine who would lose such and exotic and usefull part, but 43 years is a long time.  I think I'll make do with something home made.  If I paint it satin black, no one will know.  How cool is it that we are on opposite ends of the globe taking obscure MB parts?
Best regards,
Dave

PS
Not sure if you are a movie buff, and speaking of your great country, just last night I watched an obscure movie on cable with Bryan Brown (where's he been?), John Goodman, and Toni Collette.  Some semi-comedy gangster movie - it was prettty good.  Never knew TC was an Aussie.  She plays a Yank pretty well.

Hi Dave,

That item comes up on eBay occasionally and not very pricey or put a wanted note here on site as there is Dan Carron,'Benz Dr" or other members who may have one.

TC is a bit of a chameleon and can play lots of very different rolls.

Cheers
Garry

I think they are still available from Classic Center.  Ask for Woodie, he will let you know if they are available US/Germany.
