Rocker / Sill panel original colour ??
« on: July 26, 2011, 20:47:10 »
Could one of you experts please answer this enquiry:-

Should my '64 230 SL sills/rockers be body colour or dark grey ?

Should they be textured (stone-chipped) or smooth ?

Thanks in advance,

Steven.

There was a big discussion about this a month or so ago.  The rockers should be textured and some where between dark grey to almost black if I recall correctly.  Search the postings for more accurate info and some photos of original cars.

I have seen one car that had these sill covers chrome plated. Not original but certainly looked nice!

It looks nice on a 111 coupe but I'm not so sure about a 113. A matter of expectations I suppose. 113's are supposed to look a certain way and when they don't conform it makes them look odd.

My pleasure !!
Tell us what you decide on.  :D

(also, as a suggestion, you can put the year and model of your Pagoda in your automatic signature. That makes it easier for people to understand your issue and help you)

Thanks again Mark...Done.

I think I will go for the grey rockers as it does slim the profile from the side, the show car had these and now I know it is not going to offend purists I am happy to do it !!!

Thanks all.

Steven.
