1st day of fall
« on: September 23, 2011, 20:12:08 »
First day of fall here in the northern hemisphere but still feels like summer today. Went for a drive up to an area called Apple Hill near where we live for apple pie and coffee this morning. It was a pleasant morning and we hated to turn around and head for home but by the time we pulled in the garage the temp was 95F(35C). A little toasty with the top down.  The car ran perfectly and had no problems pushing up some the hills with the temp gage right around 180-190F. Might have a go at another "sunset drive" tonight.  We sure are having fun in our "oldtimer  (alter timer)"

Hello John
the photo is quite tempting, I can not wait to get my hands on the steering wheel of my 1967 250SL, it is just getting cooler here after the 50+ C (120+F)  summer, now down to the lower 40s during the day and mid 30s in the evenings.
I looked at your car parked under the tree several times and it does look tempting. I just have to find me a secluded place where they serve apple pie and coffee around here.
great looking car John. and with only one other customer there it must have been very quite and relaxing after that joyful ride.
all the best John

Hello Basem,
Thanks for your comments and hope you will soon be behind the wheel of your SL enjoying some "cooler" weather. We were pretty much alone when I took this picture and had just finished our pie and coffee when a tour bus pulled up and dropped off  20 or more folks. Lots of interest in the car and they were surprised to hear the car was 43 years old and for many, their first encounter with a Pagoda. Always fun to show off our "baby":-)
