Lucky! Parts Saved
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:15:31 »
Sometimes one can get lucky! I bought a job lot of Mercedes parts from a dealer that had ceased trading and amongst it was a brand new  R18Z PUMP still in it's polystyrene packaging! Happy days!

My local dealer was disposing of £25000 worth of redundant stock,i tried to buy it all.
They would not allow me to give them a bid and they sent it to the scrap yard for nothing(it did include a FIP)
It was not my lucky day.

Same thing happened here a few years ago where MB got rid of redundant stock.
Was taken to the scrapyard where it was destroyed and disposed of.

The MB club of SA approached MB at that stage to try and salvage parts, but MB refused to even sell or give any of the parts away to the club.
Lots of NOS parts for 108/109's, 113's, 114/115's and 116 were destroyed...  :'(

Very sad indeed...

I've no particular plans for the pump at the moment. I'll have to decide on it's value to me as a spare over its monetary value....
