Cold start valve relay modification
« on: November 08, 2011, 20:22:48 »
Does any one know how to install the factory hot start modification for the cold start valve? The wire harness is #108 540 10 09 and the relay is #001 545 16 24.

Thanks.

Hello Wallace,

Have a look at the following attached PDF file that describes the process.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

Ah perfect! It seemed simple enough but I didn't want to short something out. Everything makes sense except for the performance test. They say the starting valve on the suction pipe must operate for one second. Do they mean that the solenoid should receive power for one second when the water temp is above 35C? The suction pipe part seems irrelevant.

For about 3-4 summer months here in Texas, I bet the CSV never even comes on when the engine is "cold".

Thanks for the info Jaco!

Hi, Wallace,

The clever little added relay will provide extra fuel during cranking then cut the power in one second.

Seems like we should add that to the tech manual as well. I will give it a shot soon.
