I'm jumping in on this thread, as I am stumped as to how to get my fuel gauge to work.

The gauge has not worked as long as I have had the car.
I had the sender out as described earlier in the thread. When I move the float it goes from showing Empty when the float is at the top, to showing abt. 1/4 when the float is at the bottom!
So there is a connection, but  works the reverse way.
There does not seem to be a connection to the reserve warning light.

I have tried swapping the leads, but no joy. (It is now wired correctly according to the color coding.)

What should I investigate now? Wiring or gauge, or is it the sender that needs renewing?
