Source for air cleaner mount/rubber buffers

I need a bunch of these for my cars.  I'm missing several and others have broken.  Unlike the rubber buffers for the fuel pump which cost about $2 each, the typical sources list list these larger buffers as $35 each.  That really adds up when there are three per car, and 4 cars.

Does anyone know of an alternate source for these?  It doesn't seem they should cost more than a couple of dollars each.

I just took a look and they don't list them any more.

I have found a couple of possible manufacturers of rubber parts that might be suitable replacements.  If they check out (which will take a while to do), would there be any interest in a group purchase?

I just bought three of these from bimmerspecialist.com.  They were $2.20 Canadian.  They are in the U.S. but sell in Canada with Canadian prices as well.  And they take PayPal.  It's MB Part No. 116 988 05 11 .  They also ship Purolator and have lots of other vintage Mercedes stuff.

Tom, I don't think the ones from bimmerspecialist are the correct mounts, they look like the ones on the fuel pump.  Compare it to the one on e-bay and you will see what I mean.

Twistedtree, how much is MB charging for a mount, or is this the $35 you quoted earlier?

Marcus, that Bimmer Specialist rubber buffer is a manifestation of my motto, which is, "I may be a purist, but I'm not a masochist!"  I'm the guy who bought heavier duty aftermarket urethane swaybar links for 1/10 the price of MB OEM.

From MB they are $20ish each.  It's still unclear to me whether all three are the same, or if the one on the bottom is different.  K&K says they are different, and the EPC says they are the same, but EPC also pictures a completely different air cleaner assembly than what a W113 actually has.

Once I have a sample and get back to my shop again (a week or so from now) I'll dig into this some more.  Normally I wouldn't spend the time for a $50 savings, but when you multiply that by 4 it starts to add up.  Plus it just kills me to spend 10x what something should cost when there are lots of manufacturers who make similar parts.

That p/n is replaced by 110 094 0085.
I have a hunch that Meyle is the manufacturer for MB and you can get it for about $10 - $12.

Although the spare parts list for a M130 engine shows that you need 3 I believe that this is a printing error.
On my 1968 280SL only two are required but one of them also needs a special bracket between the canister and the chassis wall; see: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=13814.
I believe the air canister for M127 engines (230SL) needs three double-threaded buffers.

Well, now I feel silly.  The part on Autohaus appears to be correct. The silly feeling is because I looked their first and when you look up by car make/model/year all they list are the buffers for the fuel pump which are smaller.  For me, the search is over.

Oh, and the reason there are three, not 2, is because there is one on the bottom of the canister.  Two on the sides, one on the bottom.

Twistedtree, I did the same thing and looked in Autohaus and only found the fuel pump mounts.  Thanks Alfred for the link.  My search is now also over. ;D

That is true only for your 230SL but not for the 280SL. That one has a rubber plug at the bottom; see photo. One red arrow shows where one of the two buffers attaches to the inner fender wall, the other identifies the plug.

I just finished replacing all three.  The 2 on the side were double-threaded, the one on the bottom was single-threaded, it was screwed to the canister and the rubber part sat there on the chassis.

I replaced with 3 double-threaded, since there was a corresponding hole for the bottom buffer in the chassis.  Car is a 64.

The part is different than the one Tom Kizer shows.  The rubber part has a waist, kind of like a hourglass, instead of straight.
