« on: January 19, 2012, 02:56:33 »
Hi Everyone,
I have found a 1971 280 SL that hasn't been driven in fifteen yrs. It has been garage kept and is all origional down to the radio. Any thoughts on getting this vehicle back on the road. What do I need to look out for.

... That, and there should be various threads on here that contain lots of useful information about cleaning out the fuel system, brake checking and so on. Try the search first please, but you'll find we're a helpful bunch anyway.

Money.

 :D :D :D

Cees is right though. Threads all over the boards on this. Do nothing until ALL the fluids have been drained, systems cleaned and new fluids put in. Particularly gas!!

And congrats on your find!

No Pictures yet. I will be looking the car closely and taking pics Saturday This vehicle was bought in Germany driven there for a while then brought to the states. I understand it has jump seats. Were the seats an option?

There was an optional small side ways seat in the rear on one side in leu of the wooden parcel area, suitable for very small people.

Saw the pic's....congratulations. I have a barn find, was stored for almost 30 years. You can view my threads, I listed my process before cranking and starting the car to avoid damage.

Good Luck. Keep us posted.
