230 SL Slipping automatic
« on: March 26, 2012, 08:37:51 »
I have a problem with a slipping automatic gearbox, after a standstil in the winterperiod 01 Okt-01 Mar. During winter I start it every fortnight, engage the gearbox without driving(car jacked up).
Ready to drive after changing engine(semi synt.10-40)-gearroil(ATF) and filters.Membrane in vacuum regulator is new and no leaks, the car will not engage.Linkage tour, spark timing, ventury switch and 3 way relais are ok.I can feel a little engagement both in 2 and rerverse, after severel engagements with highter revs, the engagement gets better and the car can drive slowly but slips.
After driving about 10-15 km the problem slowly disaperes and the car drives and schifts normal.

What`s wrong, faulty torque converter or bad main oilpump?

Hi
Problem solved, the ignition had shiftet to too low (2-3 degrees), put it back to 7-8 , now no slipping , normal torque.

Until next time I don`t use the inside of the North Pole.
