Good day for a drive
« on: April 15, 2012, 22:41:44 »
After a week of strong winds and lots of rain, today was exceptional here in the foothills, and what better thing to do then jump in our SL and take it out for a "short" drive. Well, after nearly 4 hours and 100 miles we are back home again. We did make a coffee stop along the way and the car ran like a million bucks. It will be going down to see Ernie in few weeks for it's spring check up. Nothing major this year, just a valve adjustment and lube. Sure love this car:-)

Looks beautiful!  I just got my '69 280SL, arabian gray back from a 4 month lite restoration.   Can't wait to use it!

Hello Marc,
Looks like you folks back in PA got hit with a late "winter" snow fall. Hope the roads are clear soon so you too can "hit the road" in your SL. Be sure to post a few pictures

Hey John. Did you get a spin during that little Summer preview we had last weekend? I couldn't pass it up -- so I took Shelby for a nice topdown spin. Felt so nice.

Still waiting on the seat cover though. I am very close to terminating the order and trying another vendor. Just not right that I am sitting here waiting with no word on the progress. I have already had to pass up the big Grass Valley car show this weekend, and possibly the Union Hill one for next month... In the meantime, I am riding around like its a go-cart.

Hi James, pretty cool upholstery in your SL :) Not quite sure what I am looking at? Is the seat frame still there or is it just milk crate ;)

No ride this past weekend and we are getting ready for a trip up to Seattle to see our son so the next trip will be down to Ernie's shop when we get home.

Good luck in getting your seat finished.

Yea, its in the Milk Crate category! the seat is out completely. What you see is a wadded up car cover for the seat, with a box as the backrest. At least the seat belt still works.

Hi John

Today, the pagoda has received new oil and next weekend the summer is coming to the mosel river. Hope i get time for a ride.
On the weekend comes Ludger (owner of # 20 ) with his R 107 club friends and his 500sl for a couple of days in our hotel. Hope the good weather holds on.

Keep an eye out for Smokie (California Highway Patrol for our non California members). They might frown on that:-) Hope your "Dilemma" will soon be resolved.
