Swing Joint leak
« on: June 26, 2012, 16:18:26 »
I have a leak in rear of car - a couple drops a day. :( Mechanic says it is not leaking from the rubber cuff, but rather the swing joint which he says would be a bit of an undertaking to repair.  Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

Chuck

Hello Chuck,

The rear pinon seal is often the source of a "minor" rear diff leak. The rear rubber boot is the only other possibility unless the diff is overfilled and it is forced out the vent. Rear wheel seal leaks can happen at each wheel area. Make sure the vent is not plugged as pressure can build up and force a leak.
