Nearside Wiper barely moving
« on: July 20, 2012, 23:45:12 »
I noticed the other day that my wiper on the nearside (UK) is moving only about 2 inch whilst the drivers side works OK.

Is there anything I can do to free it up as clearly the motor is OK?

Thanks

Mark.

I assume you have made sure the nut on the wiper arm is tight.
ie. it is not just the arm slipping on the spline?

Hi Mark,

If one arm works OK then the spline mount should be fine as, if this moves, the park position will also alter which could cause the blades the leave the screen and wipe the air intake cowl or the screen pillar. Assuming park is OK it will probably be the slip joint thats moved and you just need to reset this to obtain the correct sweep. If you pull the blades off the screen and slide the joint one way then the other you will see that one arm will move more than the other at one extreme and more in unison at the other, so just set to get the best coverage. If your mechanism is worn you may have to extend the slot a little. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback.

I haven't checked if the arm is lose, and that sounds logical, even if I can't think of a reason why it would have worked lose.

I will go and have a look tomorrow and see if this is the issue.

Regards
