My car has the X Factor!
« on: July 25, 2012, 22:13:55 »
Following the recent publication of my car in the Mercedes Benz Club Gazette, I received a call today to ask if I would allow my it to be used at Dermot O'Learys wedding !! (I assume as a grooms car).

For those of you in America who don't know who Dermot is, he hosts the UK's X-Factor, so you could say he is the UK's equivalent of Ryan Seacrest (only not quite as cheezy).

Needless to say, I have agreed, as it adds to the history and the stories I can tell. - I may have to add a condition to the contract though...don't let Simon Cowell near it, even with the roof off it can't contain his big head!  ;)

Quite an exciting deal!  Will the paparazzi be there?  Have they given you a date?

I suspect the Paps will try to be there, but I also imagine he has sold the photo's to something like Hello magazine, which makes it better as there is a chance my car could be in some of the pictures.

Excellent! I offered mine too until I realised he wanted a beige one.

Well...The car was picked up today by MB-UK in a covered transporter and shipped down to Mercedes Benz head office where it will be driven by a 'Classic Car Expert' who will then show Dermot what to do and how to drive it.

I had it confirmed that he is using it as the groom's car, but to date it looks like there will be no official photo's  :(

I dropped a note in the car with some history, you never know, he might think that's a nice touch.

I'm so not an X Factor.  I have no idea who any of these people are.

Neil

Holly lives next door to my best mate in Barnes. At least, he was my best mate until he pulled out of the Euro rally. Now he's just a marked man who needs to watch his back! Nice neighbour, though.

I noticed that the car has also been published in this weeks OK! magazine.

The first and most likely the only time I have bought a copy!

Well, lets face it, it is all adding to the history of the car (that's my excuse).

Did you offer to assist as the "driver" for the event?
