Photos of Pagodas in 396G?
« on: July 31, 2012, 16:41:09 »
I'll be done with the welding soon (finally, after 3 years). I always thought that I would have my car painted in "Midnight blue". Recently, I've started to hesitate, though. The interior is parchment and the soft top is navy blue.

I have seen many pictures of Treedoc´s car in this forum and to me, Geoff´s Pagoda looks absolutely fantastic!

A few days ago, I found a Pagoda for sale in ebay. The color code was 396G but it looked a bit darker than I had imagined. I have not found pictures of any other SL painted in "Medium blue" 396G.
If you have a car in that color I would very much like to see some photos under different lighting conditions.

(The photo in our technical manual looks quite different at least on my screen)

Thanks,
Petri

I've seen midnight blue w/parchment and blue top in person.  Very handsome and sharp.  Stick with it.

Hi Star63,

My 280 is 396 medium blue metallic. I too had desired a dark blue but am very happy with 396 and would not choose the other blues over this. If you pm me with your preferred e-mail I can send you some full resolution photos.

Thank you, Chris!

Your car looks great!

I had some 396 paint mixed in a paint shop and painted a test sheet. Naturally, it's difficult imagine how the whole car would look in that color...
Somehow it seems that the color of my test sheet is a little bit lighter than your car in the photo. It may be the lighting conditions or just the camera/computer settings.

Don't know if you saw my car, I've been getting a lot of comments on my blue colour. The colour code is 903 my car is a 1969 280 SL (pictures in my web page link).

Looks like a different blue was available in every year 1968, 69, 70 and 71 (when you check the Technical Manual)
DD 2011 SL 63 AMG and my 69 Pagoda 280 SL
