Injector Pump Lubrication (Early 250 SL)
« on: August 19, 2012, 20:25:28 »
In Answer to a Question posed in "Concours dElegance - Kuwait Feb 2012" Topic

Basem,

Greetings from Wales.

My car is  a May 1967 manufacture - RHD Automatic.

The Bosch Injector Pump is a PES6KL 70A120 R18Z and is correct for the data.
The data plate is on the outside near the front of the pump, you may of course have a different pump to me.

This model has own oil supply - separate from the engine.

I have only had the car two months, but I know the pump was overhauled 3 years ago in UK.

If you have the same pump, it should have a Red  Filler Cap and also a well concealed dipstick, I removed the
washer bottle  for a better picture of it here.

The oil in mine lovely and clean, but I have seen posts where they have been overfilled, and also become dirty.
I believe  it holds 250 ml of normal Engine Oil, and it is "drained" by sucking it out of the dip stick hole.

I hope this may be of some help

Keep Well

Paul

Hi Paul
Is that you in the driver seat of the Firebird?!
Old?! come on Paul you look like a young man, if that is your picture.
I agree with you that the Pagodas are fun to drive specially in beautiful Wales, congratulations onyour recent buy of the 250SL, enjoy it
Thank you very much for your time and the useful information and photos.
I sure will take a closer look at my injection pump once the weather gets a little cooler here to be able to work outside.

Thanks a lot Paul and all the kindest wishes from Kuwait
