Hardtop Fitting
« on: August 31, 2012, 10:43:57 »
Put the hardtop on my car yesterday for the first time....needed to make some room so I could tidy up my garage !!

The hardtop is not original to the car but assume all tops should be interchangeable.

Top latches down tight in the front and rear sides but there is a gap at the rear where the top meets the body.
The gap is about a half inch at the chrome molding but the seals seem to fit against the cover..

Is there any adjustment to snug the rear of the top to the body ?

Thanks

Ed A.

Have you tried lashing the rear lashes first, then the front ones? Might not help, but it's really easy to try :-)

Looking from the rear the top correctly fitted appears to be half an inch or more off the deck but the seals are on the lid ok. The  That is it looks like you could get your fingers under the rear of the hardtop.  Is that what you have and is so then that is the norm.  Attached is a photo of mine, original top on car.

Thanks Gary !!!

That's similar to my fit..
Seals are down on the lid, but there is a "finger" gap where the top meets the body sheetmetal...

So not to worry about the design !!!

Thanks again..
