Automatic Transmission In Cannes France
« on: September 03, 2012, 13:06:34 »
Hello,
I just had my 69 280SL towed to a friend's house here in the South of France. The automatic transmission started to make clunky noises in gear after transporting a 3rd passenger for 20 minutes or so.  In the past I always had the impression that while transporting a heavier person in the passenger seat affected my transmission by making
little noises that no one really hears. Well now the car goes back and forth but sometimes makes a clunky noise even in P. Does anyone know a reputable mechanic around here? Any tips of what went wrong?
Many Thanks

Sounds like a drive shaft problem.  Check the flex disc, the center carrier, etc.

Thanks Ja17',
You diagnosed perfectly my defective bushing on the linkage rod  in 07  based on my description. I am going to try to look under the car  tomorrow morning.
Thanks!
