seat back vents

I have a 69 280 sl ,and the front seats do not have the 2 vents in the seat back ? Should they be there ,or where they only on certain cars ? Thanks in advance for all the help . Paul

Mine is an early '69 and it has the vents but no headrests.

All seats should have them. Those for the 230SL were metal with a chrome finish while the 280SL one are plastic with a chrome finish.

 Hello Alfred, after all these years of applying a nice coat of wax to those vents, I learned something tonight. PLASTIC!! I would have never dreamed that possible on these cars:-) No wonder they still are so nice and shiny. Thanks for the info.
