44 years young
« on: September 18, 2012, 15:50:34 »
Hard for me to believe but our SL turns 44 years old today and it still looks as good as it did when I drove home from the dealer all those years ago. This past Sunday we took it out for a couple of drives. One in the morning before it got too hot and then later on that evening for a sunset drive. The first picture (taken in the morning) was down in the little town of Coloma near the American river which is running pretty low this time of year. The other two were in the evening. We didn't get home until after dark and it sure is fun to drive these cars, top down, on a warm summer evening. And for a little bit of trivia, the third picture was taken in front of "Poor Red's BBQ" in the town of El Dorado. It is famous for a cocktail known as the "Golden Cadillac" which is made from Galliano liqueur, half and half, White Cream de Cacao and ice. This little hole the wall place serves more Galliano then any other place in the world!

John, Happy Birthday to your car. Your photos, as always, are good, but the first one taken in the morning in Coloma looks to me like it could have been taken for a Mercedes magazine advert 44 years ago, somehow it looks to have a vintage look, very very nice!

Thanks guys :) The pictures were taken with my wife's iPhone and I had to tweak them a bit on my Mac. I should add that we did not stop at Poor Reds and have a Golden Cadillac on this drive. We did however go to the drive through at our local In and Out ( a California burger chain) and get a couple of Milk Shakes :D

I'm almost more jealous of you're ability to casually cruise up to an In & Out as I am of your Pagoda.

Almost....
