Where can I buy a Vacuum Adavance
« on: October 07, 2012, 23:23:34 »
I am looking for a Vacuum Advance for a 1966 230sl. I don't care how original it is, and all I need is the vacuum advance itself.

Khil - One of the very best Pagoda shops in this hemisphere is in Arundel, ME on Portland Road off Hwy 1.  On the Home page of this site, select Services, then Vendors, then scroll to "SL Tech" for complete contact info.
Tell the good Mr. Nisius "Hello", and that we sent you (and perhaps even that you plan to become a full member here).   ;o)
The vacuum advance is one of those things you want to get right.  Hard to imagine an improvised or adapted unit coming close enough to do the job, or being worth all the modification and jiggering involved.

Best luck and welcome,
Denny

If you have a '66 then it should have the 051 distributor. In this case, the vacuum unit will pull in the direction of rotation making it vacuum retard.

This is the most commom type used on 113's and I'm finding that used parts are always in short supply.

... And the previous poster is also a great go-to source for parts, including on ignitions ...
