i imported my car into the u.k.in jan 04a red and parchment 71 with 57000 miles..a good shipping agent should have already informed customs and once its classed as a classic you should only pay 5 percent of your bill of sale and thats all,i have helped a few other people with their sl,s and they paid the same,i have heard of this charge before, but only if the container is for some reason held in the port, usally the container goes to a bonded whare- house, where the car is unloaded then they allow you so many days to get your paperwork in order, and then start to charge you,if you need any tips on registration ect. let us know,if you need an agent i can recommed one who has done it all before and deals with classics.
