In the first line of the fender body-and-paint number plate on a Pagoda; I noticed, among others, the option code 992. I was able to decipher the other codes with help from the Pagoda SL Group technical manual, but I have been unable to find a clear description of this one.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

My 230SL has the same 992 option code on the paint plate. According to: http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~mtor/mbcodedsc.html
it means: " FOR FURTHER NON-CODED SPECIAL VERSIONS, SEE PRODUCTION ORDER I"
On my data card it does not show "992" but "994" which means "Vehicle prepped for Car Show or Exhibition".  In my case it was sitting in the dealer's show room in San Francisco when the PO bought it.
What does your data card show?

Hi, Alfred.
I don't have access to the data card, and also came upon the 'for further non-coded special versions, see product order I' note, but I had no idea what the latter meant.
Thanks for info. about the code possibly being related to 994.
Best,
Dennis

Hello Dennis,
the data card is one of those "must have" things and the good news is that is free!
Just call Tom Hanson at the Classic Center: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=10991.msg73997#msg73997
