Reference Pictures?

I have had a quick scan through all these pictures, makes me even more determined to get on and restore!!
A request:
Could a few people take some front / back / side / basic interior / engine bay and boot (trunk) photos so I can use them as a reference as I rebuild???
With the use of the manual that Cees is putting together that would be a great help. I promise to post pictures of the work I have to do

Malc - maybe the best thing for you would be to get one or two books such as "the Original Mercedes SL" by Laurence Meredith, available through "the usual suspects" (Amazon, larger book stores etc). It has many detailed photos of in- and exterior of the various (230, 250 and 280) models and although not always 100% accurate, with the project you have undertaken it will get you underway.

Hello  newbie here, But for what it is worth I just bought that book and it is no help what so ever.  Don't waste your money.

I have to agree with Cees.  The book Cees recomended and another Meridith book "Mercedes-Benz, SL Sports Cars" are excellent.  Good inside and outside photos and worth the small investment.

Malk, I also am restoring my car and i had the same consideration as you. Pics would help me with the restoration. So I surfed the net and downloaded a lot of pics of engine bays, interiors and other details of body and bottom. I can send them over to you but the map is 142 MB though. If you're interested please let me know. BTW Cees there are also pics of your car included!

Hey Neil,
Looking at the picture of your LHS King pin it seems to me that the centre grease nipple is missing.
There was a discussion on the old yahoo site about the centre grease nipple of the king pins not being used by mechanics.
I think that it was also mentioned in the Technical Articles of this site.
Apparently if the 3 nipples are not greased it is possible that the king pin can develop wear and necessitate early replacement at great expense.
Is the bleed nipple missing on the brake caliper too?
