Paris Retro Car Expo - 2013
« on: February 09, 2013, 15:19:04 »
Today I went to the Paris Retro Mobile -- an event held at the Porte de Versailles Expo Center in Paris.

The cars on display were wonderful ... of course most of the emphasis was on French Brands.  I will post some photos of other cars in the appropriate place.

Here's a link to the Expo: http://www.retromobile.com

Here are some photos of the ONLY pagoda in the place --- a special 230sl.

I will follow this post with another with some more photos this particular pagoda ... Interesting interior ...

I think that this particular car was presented in another thread here, but it's always enjoyable to admire such pretty ladies in red

On the sign Kienle writes:
"..the car is restored as original as possible"
The headrests and late style hubcaps really put emphasis to that message - not...  ::)

Paris Retro Car Expo - part two

Some additional Pagoda photos from the Paris Retromobile expo ...

Also there was a guy selling lots of Becker and Blaupunkt radios ... he is based in Germany and I have his info if someone wants it ... I made my big purchase of radio knobs from him as mine need to be replaced.

A retro tire company was also present ... a British outfit.  Maybe many know of them from the UK ... but just in case, I've included a photo.  They carry all the usual suspects including Coker Phoenix.

Fred,

A photo of Paris for you ... this was during the recent snow here.    Pretty but much nicer in the summer.

(sorry is this off-topic, but sounded like Fred needed a Parisian fix)

The French Retromobile show emphasized French brands.

Yes, but let us not forget that the Pagoda has a lot of French DNA. Paul Bracq, the designer, was born in Bordeaux, France.

Every few years, I  join the Bastille Day celebration lining up with Peugeots, Citroens, and others in a car parade around the city
stopping at the French Alliance building and the French Consulate for some "bon collations" then continuing on to a typical Bistro.

My Pagoda carries a small sign pointing out the "Frenchness" of the car.  I heard a passerby say (with a slight French accent),

"Yes of course, such an elegant car could not be designed without the French touch"
