I've got a piddle problem! (leak from FSVT)

So, you turn fifty -- and these kind of things start happening....  

A couple weeks ago, I filled up and kind of stupidly really topped off the tank. I planned to test my mpg so I wanted it full. Anyway, when I got home, I noticed a bunch of what I would characterize as oily gas dripping from my FSVT. Figured it was because I had over-filled the tank. However, it is still happening, a 1/4 of a tank in. Each time I drive, I get a little piddle when I get home. Car runs wonderfully. Any idea what/where it is coming from? The fact that it has oil in it concerns me.

Hi James,
 Maybe you might have disolved some "sludge" in the canister that has accumulated over the years. These evaporative nozzles that are on the fuel dispensing pumps are sure a bear to use. I have yet been able to really "fill" my tank. Perhaps that is a good thing:-)

Yea John, the California nozzles are a pain. I always give it a couple squirts after the shut-off even though it says don't...

The dark stuff may be sludge but its taking an awful long time to drain. I wonder where exactly the various lines of the ventilation (expansion?) tank come from and go? is it just the fuel tank, or do they go up front somewhere too?

Do the nozzle at 50% trigger and angle handle at slightly to one side

On the cars with the FSVT, the lines to the little expansion tank inside the right rear fender only come from the gas tank. There are two small nozzles on either side of the fill tube (hidden/protected) by the cover over the fill tube inside the trunk. Those two lines are routed via some steel tube and rubber connectors to the expansion tank. The third line goes to the FSVT. On the later cars, the expansion tank is in the left rear fender well (at least for US) and there is a line to the front of the car.

So, took a nice spin and the piddle seems to have stopped. I guess it was maybe some oily residue that the overfilled expansion tank spewed out. It sure was a lot though. Thanks Jon for the line descriptions --
