When you are the member of a M-B club that is ratified by M-B Classic, you receive three issues of this Magazine for free every year.

I would think you would be able to obtain single issues from M-B Classic (Irvine perhaps?)

I guess the MBCA is not ratified by MB Classic as I have been a member of MBCA for years and have never received this magazine.  I get The Star.  How would one get a copy?

Hmm, interesting. This distribution to the M-B Clubs is perhaps for certain geographical areas only.
This is from the web of the Magazine:
"M-B Classic Magazine is the only vintage car magazine published by a car manufacturer that can be purchased at newsstands; it is also available by subscription. It appears three times a year in German and English and is distributed in more than 80 countries worldwide"
Well, you could perhaps ask MBCA. The contacts for the M-B Classic Magazine are found herehttp://www.mercedes-benz-classic.com/content/classic/mpc/mpc_classic_website/en/mpc_home/mbc/home/news_magazine/classic-magazine/about-us/imprint.html

if you go tho the page incited by Jordan, at the bottom there is a link where you can read an article about the W113 230SL model
http://magazin.mercedes-benz-classic.com/gallery/01-2013/flipbook-en/#/22/

as well as a "Roof truth"
http://magazin.mercedes-benz-classic.com/gallery/01-2013/flipbook-en/#/72/

and many many other articles

BTW: You can order single copies on their website (including back copies) as well as, at least in England through magazines and press resellers. UK MB Club members receive it as part of their membership benefits.

Meantime have a look at the two beauties, Thankfully, among the two, only the car celebrates its 50th anniversary... : ;)

As soon as I have received my copy, I'll scan it and put it up as a PDF in the Full Members section of the Technical Manual (where you find Pagoda Notes)...

Anyone know the significance of the BB-A 716 registration plate? BB is the city code for Bonn, if I remember correctly, and that was the capital of FRG back in the 1960s, but why on this car?

Yes Peter,

You are absolutely correct. :o  8)  :o

BB on a German number plate stands for the Sate County of Boeblingen, which is where Sindelfingen is located in.

BB-A 716 was a fictive number plate of the styling department of Daimler-Benz in those 60ies and a bit later. It was never a realy registered number at that time. All "new" developmental MB cars carried that number.

You are further correct in that Bonn is a (beautiful !!) Rhein (Rhine) -located city near Cologne which was our West-German Capital from 1949 - 1990.
After reunification Berlin has been chosen as old and new Capital again but many governmental departments are still today located in Bonn.

See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonn

& enjoy.

And back to topic ... enjoy also here:

Great that they picked Felica as model. I was worried that BB on the plates would lead to photo session with Brigitte Bardot… and then, among the two, Pagoda would have been the youngtimer ;D

Thanks for being kind to me, Achim, but I see I was wrong about BB being the code for beautiful Bonn. The code for Bonn is BN.
I was born in WI. And that's not Wisconsin :-)

But wasn't the Mercedes concern in Stuttgart? I think I've seen other advertising photos with cars that have S on their licence plate.

Dear all,

Full Members (and Full Members only), this article is now available for download in the Premium Content section of the Technical Manual.

Note: this file is 137 MB big (because all of the pictures). Please do a right-click and then a 'Save As' to save the file on your hard drive. Do not download if you are paying for download charges, or if you've already got a copy of the Magazine, as the scanning has not improved the quality...

I shall remove this file in a couple of weeks/months, as it eats rather too much of our server space.

Another way to save this article (at least for Mac users) is to open this link http://www.mercedes-benz-classic.com/content/classic/mpc/mpc_classic_website/en/mpc_home/mbc/home/news_magazine/classic-magazine/current_issue/article_01.html, After it opens, select "print" from your menu bar and select the option "save as pdf".  A copy will be then saved to your desktop.

Thank you Peter and John,

while I am still waiting for the latest copy of the MB Classic Mag, it is a great pleasure to read this article we were waiting for (it was announced by the publisher in November, if I remember well :))

Oh, even better, you can read the magazine electronically... http://magazin.mercedes-benz-classic.com/gallery/01-2013/flipbook-en/index.html#/1/

Note: even all the back issues...... Oops, no.

I could have saved all that time scanning the issue. I'm going to delete the pdf version since it's a bit superfluous

Thanks

It's 172H. Really amazing paint. In strong light it looks like plain metallic grey, but at times it's like greyish olive? This kind of tone reveals itself the best just before sunset, when the rays are longer.

I am just finishing renovation end of April, so the paint will be fresh and glossy… then I will post new pics ;)
