W113 230SL auto gearbox issue..
« on: March 15, 2013, 18:08:12 »
Help,

I just bought a 67 230SL, but on the way home in the snow (sorry) it suddently went out of gear and the speedo died at the same time. After stopping i could only go in second gear, disregarding if 2/3/4 was selected. In 2, 1-2 works, but that's it. Oil level is fine, no leaks. It happend cruising at 3000 rpm.

Thanks in advance guys.
Mike

The gears in side the rear transmission housing that drive the rear oil pump and speedo will be stripped.
Can be repaired by removing rear drive flange and rear housing.

Thanks drmb, I really appreciate your help

so I will need to buy a new gear set. Any other parts required? Is there a Mercedes W113 PDF catalog avaliable where I can see the parts I need?

Could you please point out the parts here: http://www.niemoeller.de/w113/B042.html

Cheers
