looking for a right rear thrust arm
« on: March 18, 2013, 04:42:57 »
Hello, My mechanic has brought to my attention that some tire wear on the right rear tire is attributed to a slightly bent right rear thrust arm.
this is MB part# 1103501129.
online they are for sale for over $1,190.
curious if i might be able to find a used example from someones parts car.
any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
Also any advice as to weather it can be repaired rather than replaced.
Thanks
Howard

They're the same for loads of models of the era. You should be able to find a second hand one very easily.

In general, the major suspension pieces on our cars are adapted without alteration from common M-B sedan parts of the time, so that finding someone to do a proper alignment after replacement repairs may be your biggest challenge.  These parts are so common in good used condition that repair of yours shouldn't be necessary.  Others with more experience can advise you on the specifics, and several will likely have what you need as 'leftovers' from other projects.
In fact, it's fairly common for complete rear axle assemblies from sedans to be swapped with those in our Pagodas in order to remedy a situation where the owner feels that the gearing in the differential results in engine revs too high for common driving speeds.  It's largely a matter of personal preference, and if the idea appeals to you at all you may as well wait for a bit to be sure of your course and so avoid duplicating part of the process.  Inquire here and of other owners in Ozland (they'll all be back home from Sydney in a day or two).
Or: what Stickandrudderman just said.    ;)      Welcome, and all the best of experiences with your car.

What's a Thrust arm? I have a couple of parts cars in my lot. I went to the parts list I couldn't see one.

w113dude, it is the right rear trailing arm of the suspension.

Cheers,
