windscreen in 230 SL with child seat
« on: April 06, 2013, 16:32:17 »
I bought a 230 sl. It has an installed third child seat.

Is that child seat a problem for installing a wind screen? Or are some of them not possible and others would fit?

Best regards, Rudy

You will probably have issues fitting a windscreen with a kinder seat.  But...do you really need a windscreen.  These cars are amazing compared to say my MGB or a later 450SL for lack of wind.

I also might have problems installing automatic seat belts, I guess

My car is disassembled for restoration, so I`m working from memory, but can`t you just lift the soft top lid, pop up the seat cushion, unscrew the backrest thumbscrew, lay the backrest on the seat cushion then install the wind screen?  You should be able to choose one or the other, either the windscreen or the kinderseat, but not both at the same time.

My kinderseat takes about two minutes to remove if I remember right.  I thought the windscreen was easy to R&R without tools also.  Am I wrong?

Tom: You are correct. I have both, the kinder seat and wind screen. You just unscrew the backrest using the knurled knob in the top well and lift it out. Don't forget to remove the Teddy Bear from the Kinder seat. I also have the flat boards so I can remove both pieces and use the windscreen and put the Teddy Bear in the front seat with me

I could even train the Teddy bear to do that task.I guess wind screen versus child seat issue solved. Many thanks.
But can I fit three point safety belts ? For keeping Fozzy safe and not to loose him while braking?
