spring pads

How can I get a copy of Jim Villers DVD on springs and pads. I am confused on the number of options from the Classic Center on pad sizes. Six for the rear and five for the front. Should front and rear size pad be the same or there a difference between size of front and rear?

I think the video is on the home page of this website. Look under "breaking news" (!) and then instructional material. Or just google it on facetube and it's there. I have definitely viewed it, though, on a link from the home page here.

There is a difference between front and rear pads, and various sizes are available. The differing sizes are there to allow you to adjust the car to the correct ride height accounting for springs, etc. There's a lot of info on this site from about 8 years ago. Search for "progressive springs" and take it from there.

By size, do you mean there are different thicknesses? If that's what you mean, as I said, you need to determine the thickness you need in order to get the car set to the correct ride height. No one can tell you which pads you need without seeing the car. If the ride height is correct, and you want to replace the pads, then replace them with the same ones (noting the car will rise slightly due to compression of the old pads). The PN should be on the pads and is hopefully still legible. If you wish to lower the car, use thinner pads, etc, etc. I ended up using some of Jim's gasket things mentioned in the video because standard pads wouldn't get my car high enough.

Watch the video and it'll make more sense, I think, then do a search which will tell you what you need to go and measure. It really is worth reading the stuff on springs. There's a lot of great info.
