Beirut restoration finished....Wow!
« on: July 18, 2004, 00:33:15 »
Finally the frame-off restoration on my 280 has finished. I took delivery of the car yesterday, and am soooo pleased with the result.
This car now has a completely rebuilt /detailed engine (New pistons, crankshaft, valves etc), new fuel and Brake lines, new shocks, refurbished fuel injection system.
The body was stripped down to bare metal and all the Trunk and floor panels changed. Painted in this silver blue metallic, that seems to sway between silver and dark blue hues in the Mediterranean sun.
New leather interior, seats, door panels, dash panels, new multiloope carpet new hard top lining, new soft top, Wood refurbished
All new weather seals, engin and body mounts, new windshield (I found it in a shop in Beirut for 80US$)
The transformation from US to Euro Version seems also successful. I was even able to change the dash instruments to metric (Km, centigrade)
I can go on forever
Finally Thanks to this Forum for without it I could'nt have done this job!

Beautiful job , beautiful car.
Your photo of the dash shows some changes to the center console box. There is a black square at the front of the box and a wooden fitting behind the black square. What are these things?
And is the knob in the console for the heated hardtop window?

Richard, the "removable" wooden peice you mentioned is for Docking the Apple I Pod MP3 player I had posted a topic about it, below is a link to see it in more detail:

and the knob is indeed for the defrost of the back hard top window.
Thank You, and regards

The color looks like DB906 metallic. A very nice color that shows well.

Hello Malek,
Congratulations to your very, very nice car! I am very impressed of the result.
One month ago you presented us how you connected your Apple iPod.
My question now is, where are the six speakers? I cannot detect any. You hid them very well!
Thanks a lot!

Beautiful car and restoration.
I was in Beirut visiting friends and family in April of this year.
Maybe next time around I can see your car in person.
Regards,
Joe
