rear break drums binding
« on: July 09, 2013, 20:30:49 »
hi
the back brakes on my 1967 230 sl are binding. I have noticed that it is pretty bad.  On a gentle slope the car will hold itself without applying and brakes.  I have been told that freeing the drum brakes is not a difficult job.  Has anyone got any advice or tips.  It would be much appreciated.  Thank you

Read through the sections about brakes. There should be lots about this here.

Bad rubber brake hoses can be the problem in many cases. See if the rear brakes hoses are fresh. If not start by changing all four of the rubber brake hoses.
