Intake manifold removal
« on: July 29, 2013, 11:27:50 »
Gentlemen,
I am tidying up the engine bay on my early RHD 250SL .
As part of this job I commenced the task of removing the intake manifold.

I soon found that I had to remove the brake master cylinder to make room and then realised that the intake manifold also  has a “tongue” between cylinder 5 & 6  that hooks behind the exhaust manifold.  Does that  mean  the intake manifold cannot be removed without also removing the exhaust manifold?

Can someone recommend the best way to support the exhaust system while doing this? I just needs to be support it while I slide it out an inch or so in order to release the intake manifold.

I think both manifolds need to come off together.  At least that was the case with my 230SL.
